I’m Dr. Anna Mendoza, Assistant Professor of Sociolinguistics and TESL in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I’m interested in bi/multilingualism and my works are about how to use students’ languages to teach a target language in different situations: dual language education, EMI/CLIL, and adult community literacy. I have taught pre- and in-service teachers at UIUC, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, the University of British Columbia, and Simon Fraser University. My graduate students research teacher education in multilingual contexts from a critical perspective.
